From quick bites, to casual meals to fine dining, there’s a restaurant waiting to serve. So, if you’re hungry as a bear– and believe us, Beech has seen its share of those – below are some fine establishments for your consideration.
The Alpen Restaurant & Bar
At the Alpen Restaurant & Bar guests can enjoy two unique menus in a traditional European inn, setting sure to please your palette and your senses. The remodeled main dining room features a state-of-the-art entertainment system, a rustic double fireplace, a beautifully hand-crafted bar that provides a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating as well as a more casual bar dining room.
Mountain View Room
With spectacular views of the mountains, the main dining room offers an elegant setting for fine dining at its best. From delectable seafood and hearty steaks, to pastas and vegetarian dishes, the menu will be sure to satisfy any craving, all while being served by the excellent waitstaff.
The Old Fireplace and Bar
Old World charm meets a casual bar dining atmosphere! Offering a lighter bar menu that includes, tasty Appetizers, Salads, Quesadillas, juicy Burgers and the infamous “Mile High Club” sandwich plus a large selection of imported and domestic Draft Beers, Fine Wines and Mixed Drinks The Old Fireplace and Bar is absolutely a crowd favorite. So, stop in, you’ll be glad you did!
Bullwinkel’s Pizzeria and Sportsbar
Located in the Top of the Beech Inn & Conference Center, Bullwinkle’s offers great hand-tossed and hearthstone pizza with a large selection of toppings as well as several Specialty Pizzas; But that’s not all, Bullwinkle’s contemporary Italian cuisine menu also features classic Pasta dishes, Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches and even Jumbo Subs. Be sure to enjoy the friendly charming atmosphere of the old Moose Lounge and watch sports and other great events on large screen TVs, while having a great meal at reasonable prices.
Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria
Their name says Pizzeria, but they are so much more that! Family owned and operated since 1988, they are definitely famous for excellent food, a homey setting and family friendly entertainment.
So, the pizza is delicious and that handcrafted crust… heavenly! Choose one of their 25 Specialty Pizzas or create your own from a selection of over 40 fresh ingredients. Or, maybe get a pizza to go (thinking midnight snack) but stay and dine on one of their tasty pastas, oven baked sandwiches or Jimbo’s Calzones. Then there’s JohnBoy’s Wings, Salads and Sides that complete the menu… for adults. Kids have their own menu options and there’s even personal, gluten free pizzas available. They offer the largest selection of beer in the mountain, Wine, Margaritas… actually a Full-Bar. But leave some room for the Expresso Bar, Handcrafted Candies, Fresh Baked Cookies, Ice Cream, Cakes, Pies, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, etc.
Let’s talk entertainment, there’s the Air Hockey table, the Arcade, the large screen TVs, Mini-Golf, and Summer’s Family Fun Series – featuring live music concerts, a bounce house and outdoor movies. Choose between their pet friendly outdoor sitting in one of their family-style picnic tables or dine indoors and browse through their Gallery of Artistic Plates created by the patrons. To become a part of their story, just ask to make one.
Like we said, they call themselves Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria, we would name them Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria Bar Café Bakery Arcade Entertainment Complex… Might be a bit too long.
The recently renovated Frazier’s Tavern offers a menu of chef-influenced pub food. Cuisine ranges from Edamame to Tso Pot Stickers to Hummus to Gourmet Pizzas and Burgers. Make sure to try the Baked Wings with Blueberry Barbecue Sauce. Trust us, you’ll be telling all your frineds about them for decades to come.
Fraziers is conveniently located near the ski slopes and features a 20-foot fire bar… WOW! With pool tables, a dance floor, HD flat screen TV’s and with the largest selection of NC craft beers in the High Country, this is the place to be to experience great nightlife on the mountain.
Fred’s Backside Deli
This is the heart and soul of the mountain, where many locals gather to share great food and good stories with great friends. Residents and visitors can enjoy excellent views from the glass enclosed dining room or opt for patio sitting in a wooded setting where wildlife is abundant. The menu features hot and cold deli sandwiches, tasty homemade soups, salads, burgers, daily lunch specials and a variety of beverages including beer and wine. Don’t forget fresh-baked desserts and ice cream!
For breakfast, choose from a menu of homestyle cooking, large waffles, traditional platters, continental options, bagels and sinful cinnamon rolls. Fred’s Backside Deli is open 7:30am to 3:00pm seven days a week year-round and it’s located at the lower level of Fred’s General Mercantile.
Holy Smokes BBQ
At Holy Smokes they know how to do BBQ and do it right! Located at the White Wolf Lodge, Holy Smokes BBQ is a convenient, family-friendly stop for great BBQ on Beech Mountain. The casual atmosphere welcomes travelers and adventurers of all kinds. The menu includes pork BBQ, smoked sausage, hot dogs, and more. You don’t want to miss their signature Apple Butter BBQ sauce on a pulled pork sandwich or their 1/2 pound smoked sausage plate. Order both, you can’t go wrong!
For all adventurers who are looking to walk on the wild side, you have to try the BBQ Wolfdog which is a hotdog that comes with pulled pork BBQ and cheese or the Wolfburger! At Holy Smokes, there’s definitely something for every palate.
Don’t forget the little ones! They offer kids meals that include a main dish (hot dog, chicken tenders, pulled pork sandwich), a side and a drink. After your great meal, stop by the homemade fudge counter, for a treat you won’t forget!
Mi Jalisco Mexican Grill
From the heart of Mexico to the heart of Beech Mountain… Welcome Amigos! Mi Jalisco Mexican Grill is located in the 4 Seasons at Beech hotel and offers an array of fresh authentic Mexican cuisine. From traditional favorites such as Tacos, Fajitas, Burritos and Quesadillas to specialty dishes like “Camarones al Ajillo” (Shrimp in Garlic Sauce), Ceviche and “Cóctel de Pulpo y Camaron” (Octopus and Shrimp Cocktail), you are sure to find something to tantalize your tastebuds in their extensive menu. Their carefully prepared Mexican dishes are sure to please, and they have a good selection of vegetarian options as well as a kid’s menu. And what’s a Mexican meal without a Margarita? They offer those and a large selection of Mexican an American Beers and Wine. The food is fresh and tasty, the portions: generous and the service: friendly!
Poppy’s Coffee Shop
I shudder to think where we’d be without a good Barista? Enter Poppy’s Coffee Shop – serving coffee, tea, hot chocolates, frozen drinks, boba tea, baked goods and more. So many flavor options like, the orange mocha Frappuccino, or the Coconut Milk Mocha with almond syrup or the salted caramel cake batter latte or the frozen “hot” chocolate, or… the list goes on and on.
Have a sweet tooth? Mema’s Bakery has got your back with treats like the amazing Amaretto Almond Cheesecake or a delicious Coconut Cream Pie.

Rascals Bar and Grille
Where casual dining meets the upscale palette… Rascals menu is elevating the dining experience on Beech Mountain with offerings like Truffle Fries, Blood Orange infused Olive Oil and Basil Chiffonade Bruschetta, and Seared Ahi Tuna Niçoise. Of course, they also have your (not-so-ordinary) ordinary fare like, Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Wagyu Beef Burger and Crab Cake Sandwich. You can’t miss Sunday Brunch at Rascals featuring delights like the Mediterranean Scramble, Chef Paula’s Latkes and several twists on The Benedicts.

Rascals Bar and Grille is located on the Beech Mountain Parkway in the Alpine Ski Center building and offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
