On May 1, 2020, North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper issued an executive order moving the state of North Carolina into Phase 2 of the state’s 3-phased reopening plan, easing restrictions on business openings. As we begin to welcome guests back to our beloved mountain hideaway, we ask that residents and visitors please continue to follow The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Resources three W’s while here:

  • Wait 6 feet apart and avoid close contact with others if possible
  • Wear a facemask if interacting with others
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer

Many of our valued Beech Mountain restaurants, accommodations, attractions, and shops have reopened and are working with CDC and state guidelines to continue to ensure the safety of their employees and visitors. We ask that our guests respect and adhere to the safety requirements implemented at individual businesses. Please bear with us if you have to wait an extra hour or two before you can check in or enter a restaurant or shop because the delay may be needed to help everyone stay safe.

Restaurants are providing takeout and allowing dine-in guests at 50% of capacity with social distancing rules in place. Our restaurants are using rigorous cleaning and distancing protocols developed by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association.

Our lodging companies are also following strict cleaning methodologies, keeping guests to 50% of capacity, and sanitizing accommodations between customers. While we have several hotels and condo complexes, many of our vacation homes are spread out over six square miles, so you can have as much space between yourself and others as you would like.

Additionally, the town has diligently prepared for the return of visitors by implementing safety precautions to ensure the wellbeing of residents, visitors, and employees at our Visitors Center.

When you are ready, we will be ready to welcome you back to our friendly town for an unforgettable getaway filled with an abundance of outdoor recreation options to enjoy. Our great big ‘backyard’ offers visitors a wide variety of hiking, biking, fishing, and boating opportunities that keep you naturally socially distanced. As the highest town in Eastern America at 5,506 feet, Beech Mountain is a naturally remote breath of fresh air and the perfect destination to venture to disconnect and reconnect with loved ones and Mother Nature.  Even our summer activities, like outdoor movies, guided hikes, music at the Skybar, scenic lift rides and mountain biking have all been tweaked to keep visitors safe.

Please visit DriveNC.gov for real-time information on rest areas, resources, and traffic updates.

Many local businesses have re-opened. We will continue to update re-openings here.
