Explore the backroads of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee and find your own adventure!
The Lakeside Loop is for those who love to hike, fish, swim, and boat, as well as those who just love a well-marked drive, mainly on mountain highways. A short drive takes the adventurer to Watauga Lake and Roan Mountain in Tennessee, and back into North Carolina, returning up the front side of Beech Mountain.
The Tasters Loop highlights the brewery at Beech, wineries at Watauga Lake and Banner Elk, and includes ice cream shops, candy stores, dining, shopping, and other fun stops along the way.
The Mountain 2 Mountain Loop showcases locations on Beech Mountain and then takes travelers to Doe Mountain and Mountain City in Tennessee, featuring opportunities for ATV rides, hikes and sightseeing as well.
All driving trails are between 80 and 105 miles long, and take between six to eight hours to complete. These routes are the perfect day trip, starting and ending on beautiful Beech Mountain!
